No reservations needed – just show up at the designated time and place!

WHO: Presented by Tiverton 4 Corners Merchants Association

• Local history and nature guide, Jim Spears, will lead the tours covering nearly 400 years of colorful local history.

• The guided tours will include visiting two historic sites per tour. Participants will meet in one location for an hour tour and then drive to a second nearby location for another one hour tour.

Saturday’s tour will meet at Pardon Gray Preserve, and then proceed to Tiverton 4 Corners Historic District. Colonel Pardon Gray was commissioned to provide food and supplies to the colonial soldiers at Tiverton’s Fort Barton during the American Revolution.

Tiverton 4 Corners was placed on the National Register of Historic Places 31 years ago. It has been a crossroads for centuries, evolving from a Native American footpath.

Sunday’s tour will meet at Tiverton 4 Corners Historic District and then proceed to Wilbor House. During the American Revolution, the French General, the Marquis de Lafayette, reportedly rode through Tiverton 4 Corners during his stay. Colonial soldiers camped out on the village green before the Battle of Rhode Island. Today the village is a charming, award-winning shopping district.

Built in 1690, Wilbor House spans four centuries and contains rooms representative of each century’s architectural style. The grounds contain an historic medicinal herb garden.
