Historic Tiverton 4 Corners’ First Annual Labor Day FestivitiesSaturday, September 3, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.TIVERTON, R.I. – August 19, 2005 – Celebrate Labor Day with the Tiverton 4 Corners Merchants Association and friends in historic Tiverton! Combining fun, history and shopping in a quaint New England setting is what we do best! An entire day is planned to celebrate the fruits of one’s labor on September 3, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout Tiverton 4 Corners. Join us for tastings, gourmet foods, craft demonstrations, guided history walks, gift drawings and a village-wide sidewalk sale featuring clothing, kitchen wares, pottery, Jill Rosenwald ceramics, artwork and more. Two history walks will offer visitors a chance to share in the rich history of Tiverton and Little Compton’s legacy in maritime, farming, architecture and military, as well as the dramatic restoration of Tiverton 4 Corners in the last 30 years. Artisans will provide demonstrations and discussion of their work, and people can leisurely stroll the village to view outdoor sculpture and historic structures, while enjoying gourmet foods and sidewalk shopping sales. Tiverton and Little Compton proudly continue to preserve the traditions and spirit of Labor Day with small working family farms, independent mercantiles, craftsmen, and small fishing fleets. Free parking is available in several areas throughout the village. Brochures with maps are available at all stores. Tour includes local history and architectural. The one hour tour starts at the Meetinghouse. 4:30 - All gift drawing winners will be announced at each gift location. Winners have 24 hours to pick up items. No purchase necessary. Shops are located in restored buildings dating back to 1700s and 1800s. The Association was formed to foster goodwill among the community, preserve its historic structures, promote its services and provide a pleasant destination for its valued clientele. These independently owned stores offer unique, often handmade, gifts - including distinctive children and adult clothing, pottery, cookware and kitchen gadgets, New England and world antiquities, knitting supplies, whimsical gifts, gourmet foods, floral decorations, skincare products and home decor. Working farms and fishing fleets populate Tiverton and its neighboring communities, continuing the traditions of New England in a bucolic setting along the southern New England coast.
